Installation of clients

Version 1.0.0

In order to effectively manage the clients in your network, you first have to capture them. There are four different approaches for Windows clients. Two different approaches are available for capturing Mac OS or Linux clients.

ACMP Agent OSWindows

The ACMP Agent is installed on a machine and serves to transmit the data of the machine to the ACMP server. In addition, this client logs on to the server at set time intervals and looks for unprocessed jobs. These jobs include, among other things, the renewed query of client values, updates of the client as well as the execution of certain actions, so-called client commands.

Note:

If the ACMP Agent is not able to establish a connection, the agent will wait for one hour before attempting once again to create a connection. As of ACMP 4.0.4, the agent waits only for 5 minutes. During this time the ACMP Agent is inactive.

OneScanClient OSWindows

The OneScanClient is a program which can be started without installation on the client. This can be done, e.g., with a login script. The ACMP OneScanClient determines all data of the machine once, transmits them to the server, which archives the data in the database and subsequently shuts down.

Agentless Scanner OSWindows OSLinux OSMac

The Agentless Scanner is able to capture clients through an Active Directory. This approach is useful in cases where clients cannot be captured due to network policies, such as multiple network segments without NetBIOS support. Here, the Agentless Scanner is able to read the basic data of clients from an active directory and to run a WMI remote scan on the basis of these data. In addition, the agentless scanner contains the XML Importer, which is used to capture Linux and Mac OS clients.

Manual capturing of clients OSWindows OSLinux OSMac

If a client is not located in a network, or does not have a network interfact, it is nevertheless possible to enter the client manually.

Linux & Mac Agent OSLinux OSMac

OSLinux OSMac

To install the Linux & Mac agent on your clients and managed them with ACMP there have to be some customizations to your installation from our support. The customization can be performed during a short remote session.

Offline Scanner OSWindows

ClientTypeOSC_small

The offline scanner allows you to integrate clients and inventory data without a network connection. When you executed the offline scanner on these clients you are able to import all data to get access in the ACMP console.

The following sections explains how these clients can be installed and how the collected data can be displayed and analyzed.
