This lists all of the existing operating systems in a folder structure.

The folders can be customized and can thus reflect the entirety of your company's structure.

To set up a new operating system, first select the folder where you would like to store the new operating system and select Add operating system. FirstFirst assign a name and fill in the description in order to select the installation type on the next page. You can choose whether it will be a setup-based or image-based installation and select the source.

warning

Warning:

If you record an image of a Windows installation with DISM and use this to add an operating system, it may happen that the important Version and Installation fields will not be filled in.

This occurs when an extensive Windows installation (incl. Windows update and software) is the recorded and the temp directory located in the RAM is running full.

To specify a different location for the temp directory, use the paramater /ScratchDir when launching dism.exe:

dism.exe /capture-image /imagefile:F:\install.wim /capturedir:D:\ /name:”Windows 8.1 Enterprise” /description:”Windows 8.1 Enterprise” /ScratchDir:C:\TempFuerDISM

If you do not enter a path, the directory \Windows\%Temp% will be used.

After selecting the source, this is read and the details are displayed in the bottom of the window. After clicking Next, you can use DISM to integrate drivers or entire driver packages into Install.wim using drivers already created . If no drivers have been set up yet, you can do this step at this time.

Hinweis

Note:

We recommend assigning drivers directly from the rollout template . This keeps the Install.wim of the operating system from becoming unnecessarily bloated. This also allows you to remain much more flexible with the scope of the drivers because you can also remove these from a rollout template.

On the following page, select the tasks to follow.

12.2 - Abschließende Aufgaben-OS

Select concluding tasks

When selecting Save and transfer to the ACMP server, the operating system just created is saved and transferred to the server. If you disable this option, the following options are also disabled.

Hinweis

Note:

If you have opted not to save the operating system, you will be informed when exiting this menu item that there are changes that have not been saved and you will asked whether you want to save before proceeding. If you select No,the operating system just created will be deleted.

This will automatically create a local copy of the operating system. If you frequently change the operating system, the local copy can help minimize network utilization. If the operating system was modified by another user or you do not have a local copy, you will be told before any change to the operating system that the current version will first be loaded from the server.

Enable the Approveoption in order to distribute the operating system to your file repositories.

All disabled tasks can then be handled directly in the ACMP console at any time.

The operating system is then added.
