Network Boot Service

Version 1.0.1

The Network Boot Service is the central service responsible for a network boot of client computers.

Components of Network Boot Services are a DHCP proxy service which responds to DHCP queries from boot clients and a TFTP service responsible for downloading files through the TFTP client on the network cards of the boot clients.

The installation file for the Network Service Boot is found in the ACMP approval in the NetworkBoot folder. Run the ACMP Network Boot Service.msi file to begin the installation. First, enter the name of the ACMP server and the port.

After confirming your entries with Next, you can begin the installation. After completing the installation, the newly installed Network Boot Service must be registered and configured.

Configuration of the Network Boot Service

To configure, go to System / Settings in the ACMP console. Select the Network Boot tab.. The top of the window shows the general Network Boot settings. First, determine whether clients should be automatically imported. Choose between the following options:

Only import Network Boot queries: Only those clients on which the Network Boot was performed will be imported. These are displayed in the inventory with [NetworkBoot] as their computer name.
Import all DHCP queries: This imports all devices, whether the PXE boot was performed or not.
Deactivate: no clients are imported.

In addition, you can enter MAC addresses of those clients where the Network Boot queries should be ignored. To create a filter, select Add and enter the address mask. You can use an asterisk * as a wildcard. In addition, you can enter an explanatory description. The filter will only be applied after it has been activated. You can activate the filter directly in the overview or select the filter and Edit.

In the lower part of the Network Boot Service the client where you just completed the installation appears. Select the entry and click Edit. To use the Network Boot Services, a file repository has to be integrated, which can be done here.

Hinweis

Note:

The repository file used must be marked "network share". Only these are supported for use in OS Deployment.
