IIS 6 is installed by default in Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. IIS 7 is installed by default in Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008. IIS version 7.0 is installed in Windows Server 2008 R2, while IIS 8.0 is installed in Windows Server 2012.
